What are your thoughts on how a library run by the community might work?

I don't know if this is the right place, but SCC is holding a series of one-to-one meetings where you can discuss your ideas about the 44 libraries and 6 mobile libraries. The nearest of the sixteen meetingplaces for Aldeburghians are at Ipswich Fri 18th March 5.30-7p.m. Chantry Thurs24th March 4.30-6p.m. Woodbridge Sat 26th March 9.30-11a.m www.suffolk.gov.uk/Counciland Democracy/Consultations/LibrariesOnetoOne.htm and for even better details, try http://www.suffolk.gov.uk./libariesconsultation2011

Do you have any more ideas on how we can generate serious revenues to support the library? You can come and hear our thoughts at the meeting on April 7th. Would you buy your greetings cards from the library? Would you like to use it as a meeting place if you could get a really good cup of coffee?

What about having a monthly (?) session of the Citizens' Advice Bureau held at the Library? This would bring more people in, be a valued community service. There are reference books/leaflets on the shelves and a more private corner could be established with some rearrangement. Funding idea - the Co-operative Movement has an education department which funds community activities in Suffolk. They could be approached for help with ideas too.

That is a good idea particularly if the library got revenue for this.
